The Ministry of Economic Affairs plays a central role in the government's economic policy and supports the government's work with structure and reform policy to ensure a strong Danish economy and a modern welfare society.
The ministry supervises and assesses the Danish economy and publishes the Economic Survey.
In addition, the ministry handles cases regarding the Economic Councils, the model law and assessments regarding distribution and incentives. Finally, the Ministry of Economy is responsible for Denmark's cooperation in the EU's economic policy area (ECOFIN) as well as a number of other areas of international economics.
Denmark holds the Presidency of the Council of European Union from the 1st of July until the 31st of December. The Minister for Economic Affairs Stephanie Lose is the president for the Council of the Economic and Financial Ministers in the European Union during the Danish Presidency.
Stephanie Lose has been Minister for Economic Affairs since November 23th 2023.
